- Read the resolution. It had two clauses. One condemning political violence, the other honoring kirk. Republicans did this so if dems voted no, the headline would be dems refuse to condemn violence!!
- It was a republican poison pill resolution. It condemns political violence and honors kirk. If you vote no or present you are voting for political violence. If you vote yes you are voting for kirk.
- The resolution also called for rejecting political violence. Republicans knew this would put Dems in a bind. Vote no for honoring Kirk, Dems get attacked for not denouncing political violence. Vote yes, they get tarred as supporting Kirk.
- Today, i voted yes on a congressional resolution condemning charlie kirks murder. This is not a vote to honor his lifes work. It is a vote to condemn political violence.
- Jamie raskin, a progressive democrat from maryland, said he voted for the resolution because it repeatedly condemns all political violence, extremism and hatred in unequivocal terms.
- It was a politically tough vote for many democrats, who do not want to celebrate kirks politics but have vehemently condemned the shooting and did not want to be seen as sympathizing with political violence.
- Some democrats expressed fear at a closed-door meeting thursday morning that voting against the resolution would make lawmakers the targets of violence, axios has learned.
- No democrat should have voted for a resolution honoring charlie kirk no matter what disingenuous anti-violence crap republicans slapped on it.
- You can condemn political violence without honoring one who condoned violence. No name should have been put on that bill.
- Its pathetic bipartisan b.s. That 95 democrats voted to honor charlie kirk. They should insisted that theyd only vote for a bill that condemns political violence that does not honor charlie kirk in the bill.
- Aoc trashes charlie kirk on the house floor, calling his views ignorant while voting against honoring his life after his assassination.
- Dems should have come back with their own resolution denouncing all political violence but in no way honoring charlie kirk as the saint he wasnt .
