La raíz del enfrentamiento es la percepción de los Groypers de que Charlie Kirk y TPUSA son demasiado moderados y "vendidos" al establishment conservador. Acusan a Kirk de no ser suficientemente radical en temas como la identidad blanca, la inmigración e Israel, considerándolo un obstáculo para una agenda verdaderamente nacionalista y "pro-blanca".

Nick Fuentes instruyó a su "ejército groyper" para que asistiera a los eventos de TPUSA con el objetivo de interrumpir, hacer preguntas incómodas y confrontar a los oradores, empujando a la organización hacia posturas más extremas y disputando su influencia en la juventud conservadora.
