1. El Argumento Central: No Fue la Economía.
La idea principal repetida en las publicaciones es que el resultado electoral no se debió a factores económicos como la inflación o el precio de los alimentos, sino a prejuicios profundamente arraigados como el racismo y el sexismo.
- It was the racism, sexism, bigotry, and misogyny. It’s time to admit this. It wasn’t about the price of eggs.
- It was never about the price of eggs, it was all about racism and sexism.
- Thank you. Absolutely nothing to do with the price of eggs, working class concerns, or economic anxiety. Just pure and utter rooted in sexism and racism.
- It was never about the economy. It was about gender and race. 1/2 the population refuses to acknowledge their sexism and racism and the other 1/2 of the population refuses to acknowledge that same racism in the other half.
- Had nothing to do with prices or the economy. Racism and sexism ruled the day. As always. You don't vote for a man who dines with white supremacists and performs a mock sex act on a microphone because of the economy. Need to call it what it is.
- It was never about inflation and the price of eggs. That's just a cover for racism and sexism.
- I believe it never was about the price of eggs. It's about the ugliness of sexism and racism that's long controlled this country. Some still fear backlash from admitting they wouldn't vote for a black woman or wanted to protect their white male privilege. "the price of eggs" gave them cover.
- The ‘but the economy!’ screed was always a fig leaf to cover their latent racism, sexism, homophobia etc.
- I think you're making up a lot of excuses for the fact that a lot of people didn't want to vote for a woman of color and found trump's racism, sexism and xenophobia appealing, but they won't admit that to a pollster and instead say it was about the price of eggs.
- Look, it was never about prices. Sure, millions of people spoke those words but this is how ideology operates: it provides you with believable nonsense so you can hide your racism, sexism, and xenophobia behind happy stories about egg prices.
- Race and sexism for sure but there were many folks who were upset re inflation etc — but the racism and sexism wasn’t a deal breaker for them.
- It wasn't racism or sexism that swung swing voters, it was explicitly "the price of eggs." there are those who don't want to admit that for a variety of reasons.
- Racism and sexism are what open the door and make all those other things more viable. For example, the inflation stuff is way more believable if you're already mad that there's a black woman in the white house who is now running for the big chair.
- A lot of evidence supports racism and (i think underrated) sexism, and a lot of evidence supports poor understanding of the economy and why prices go up when.
- A new poll shows that americans have little confidence in trump’s ability to lower prices. I'm confused, didn't people elect him to lower the price of eggs, or was it really the racism and sexism we suspected?
- Republican voters said it was the price of eggs, but we all know it was their racism and sexism. Now everything is going to cost more. Idiots and assholes.
- If you're not upset when egg prices don't drop, and you're not upset when housing costs don't go down or your taxes go up.then the reason you voted for him is pretty clear. It boils down to racism, hemophobia and sexism. Likely all three. No amount of unhinged behavior can hide that fact.
- Oh look, egg prices spiked & nobody reported on that. Huh, guess the price of eggs was just a fig leaf to hide racism & sexism during the election.
- Price of eggs voters do not exist. Stop pretending that they do. If they existed the internet would be imploding with posts about bird flu causing eggs to disappear off shelves and how egg prices are increasing but they are silent. "economy voter" is just cover for racism and sexism.
