- Republicans are in power in all 3 branches of government. Theyve shut down the government.
- Republicans control the house, senate and white house. They have the power to lower costs and save health care. They are choosing not to do any of that.
- Republicans have the power to reopen govt. By nuking the filibuster as they have done twice this year, and there still will be no subsidies for aca if they do that.
- At some point we need to understand that dems have very little power. Will get blamed for shutdown bc we always do.
- The democrats dont control the congress. Without more elected members and a majority, they do not have the power to save 40 million people from losing their access to healthcare.
- The minority party cannot shut down the government. It is impossible. They dont have the power.
- The aca subsidies will get funded never as a result of this idiotic collapse. Look, even if you lost the battle over the shutdown, you have no power all you had was the shutdown leverage, and you just gave it away for a half-eaten box of candies and a slimy handshake good lord.
- Political malpractice is trading the power of a shutdown for only the promise of a vote in the senate.
- Dems had the power to end the shutdown the entire time, but put you through all of this for nothing! republicans, right about now.
- The democratic minoritys only power in congress is the filibuster. That is what made the shutdown possible.
- The only remedy is to get 67 votes in the senate and a veto proof majority in the house. Until then, we will remain the party with little power unable to enact major change.
- The filibuster is the cornerstone of republican power in the gop. Overturning it is a god-tier win.
- Trump and his lapdogs continue to assert that they alone have the power to slash whatever programs they dont like. Deals with this regime are meaningless.
- Republicans just led the longest government shutdown in history and used mass hunger as a bargaining chip. They dont care about dcs safety they care about their own power.
- The repubs were not going to save the aca. They have all the power. In the past, minorities were able to negotiate for something this is a fascist regime. No negotiation. Absolute power!
