- Conservatives - and a not insignificant number of liberals, imx - believe poverty is a moral failing, not an institutional outcome.
- The right believes poor people should starve and be degraded. They believe the poor are poor because they choose to be poor, not because us corporations pay sub-living wages so the oligarchy can wallow in un-earned billions.
- Poverty is looked upon as a moral issue by the right as in, if you are impoverished, its because youre lazy, or drug-addicted, etc.
- The right has always viewed homelessness as a choice and hunger and poverty as personal failure.
- The left hates poverty, the right hates the poor.
- The biggest difference on here between liberals and leftists is that liberals are arguing about which poor people to help and leftists want to eradicate poverty.
- The left do their very best to help those in poverty, with the ultimate aim being to ensure there was no poverty.
- The true left requires impoverishing the current capitalist class, progressive reparations to those theyve exploited, reorganizing our economy to eliminate poverty, hunger, homelessness, etc.
- Liberalism does not address the core underlying causes of inequality or poverty, their policies are essentially a bandaid on a bullet wound.
- Centrism is the notion of giving to charity instead of eradicating poverty, its a scam.
- Centrist policies cannot break the vicious circle between poverty fascism theyre really just right-wing neoliberal policies, albeit watered down and packaged more prettily.
- Liberals are fine with poverty, etc, as long as their skiing holidays are not affected.
- Conservatives do one thing great.engineer poverty.
- The right has engaged conscious policies of wage suppression, not just to make companies rich, but directly because they know that keeping people in poverty makes it harder for them to advocate for decent politics and social change.
- The reason conservatives are pro-poverty is that desperate people can be easily manipulated and abused by the promise of money they desperately need.
- Poverty breeds radical ideology, its the only thing to cling to for some.
