- Unfortunately. Patriarchy is a hell of a drug for us all and a lot of leftists refuse to believe that. They think its just a right wing problem. So they dont deconstruct it and instead perpetuate it. Ugh.
- Not directly to your point but i am really tired of seeing patriarchy as a conservative thing. My liberal women friends were raped or assaulted by other liberal men. Heck, one of the dudes is getting a phd to work in cancer science. Patriarchy defies political spectrum.
- It's patriarchy, period. The left is just a slightly softer version of it. The self professed 'good guys' just have more masks. Be careful!
- "leftist" men (& some women even) are just as invested in white male supremacist patriarchy as the right/gop/fascists. They don't understand the system & the values they uphold (or claim to oppose) so they've never dealt with their indoctrination into valuing power & control over life & cooperation.
- And that's the patriarchy. People are not magically cured of bias and bigotry by being left wing. There's left wing racists, misogynists, homophobes, you get the idea. These ideas are pervasive and a deeply ingrained part of western culture, it takes a lifelong effort to uproot them. What are you.
- Anything but blaming patriarchy driving young men to lose it and kill everyone around them, the entire right wing's power is based in patriarchy (and white supremacy).
- I think it’s fascinating that for ages conservative men denied the patriarchy existed until they realised the lie wasn’t working anymore so now they’re saying patriarchy is the natural order of things. The whole movement is about gaslighting, grifting and oppressing people.
- To be clear, right-wingers don’t want to put women on a pedestal, they want to put them in a cage ……sexism and patriarchy are stronger than ever on the right.
- Why are right-wingers so often involved in sex scandals? because they are obsessed with patriarchy, which emboldens men to believe they own women. That sh. Needs to end.
- The new right has more or less adopted a second-wave feminist analysis of how patriarchy works, only adding “this is good and how the world should be”.
- I've met liberal women whose main point of alienation from the left is the misogyny, the "dirtbag bernie bros" who refuse to evaluate their complicity in sexism or center patriarchy as a formidable axis of oppression, while expecting women to organize with them on class issues.
- Some leftist guys (not all) i feel kinda rather than wanting to destroy the patriarchy intend to replace the current patriarchy with a different patriarchy.
- Dudes are the weakest in leftism because they don’t actually wanna get rid of patriarchy.
- My hot take for the day is that left wing men have more in common with right wing men than they do left wing women/nb people. “no war but class war,” shriek the people who endlessly benefit from patriarchy.
- This also reinforces that leftist men can be just as harmful to women as the manosphere if we unconsciously reinforce the patriarchy in trying to create helpful solutions.
- Right-wing women. They're too prisoners of patriarchy but would rather fight to be top prisoner, sellout their own gender, and suck up to men's ego. They look out for themselves only.
- The existence of conservative woman disgusts me. At least men benefit from the patriarchy, what's your fuckin excuse.
- This idea disadvantages all victims of patriarchal violence. Right wing woman think that submitting to patriarchy will save them. It puts them in the mouth of the lion. Not submitting to patriarchy makes you an enemy of it.
- I think right wing women’s role in upholding patriarchy is a tragedy and should be talked about. I always get sad talking with women with internalized misogyny, knowing that their behavior won’t be rewarded with kindness.
- Implicitly what dworkin's argument means is that right-wing women aren't actually right-wing, they're just survivors who project their hate of the patriarchy onto out-groups. That disregards what an ideology is and what women statistically as well as anecdotally actually experience.
