- Homophobia, which is basically misogyny with extra steps (being scared of gayness pretty much originates in a fear of being treated the way stereotypical dudes treat women) seriously *so many* things that don't obviously look like they ought to be wind up being rooted in misogyny.
- Homophobia is a subset of misogyny. If people didn’t look down on women then they wouldn’t look down on people who don’t follow gender norms .
- The absolute basis of homophobia, transphobia, and queerphobia in general is misogyny. It's misogyny all the way down, in varying degrees and displays due to perceived proximity to women it's also why trans femmes get shit on so damn bad and get so much of the focus on them.
- Homophobia and misogyny go hand in hand-- misogynists hate gay people because they think they're either men "acting like women" (which is bad because femininity is demonized) or women "acting like men" (which is bad because they think women should be kept in their place).
- Homophobia is an extension of misogyny. Male homophobia is the fear that other men will treat them the way they treat women. Also misogynists will resent lesbians for not being sexually available and/or stealing "their" women.
- Honestly the misogyny in gay men is amazing. Some will still pull rank on a woman despite supposedly being a feminist. It really fucking annoys me.
- As someone who used to be a gay woman (im a trans man now loll) its so fucking bizarre that most of the misogyny ive experienced in my life has come from cis gay men. Likee yall are affected by misogyny too we all are.
- Something that doesn't get talked about nearly as much as it should - misogyny among gay men. There is a sizable amount of gay men who are the rudest misogynists ever. It doesn't get the amount of conversation it should.
- Gay men who think they have a misogyny pass because they’re not straight men piss me off the same way lesbians thinking they have a misogyny pass because they’re not straight men pisses me off (with deep, unbridled rage).
- As a gay man… i’m ashamed at how much misogyny goes unchecked from my community. It’s disgusting but it’s real and all too often i see it dismissed by other gay men bc of being gay. Like that’s some sort of excuse. You’re still a man. Check yourself.
- God forbid we get into the fact that misogyny is very fundamentally wrapped up in homophobia, transphobia, and racism. Easier to just be cruel to queers in the name of defending women than actually understand what transmisogynoir is.
- Misogyny strikes again! it's what lies at the heart of homophobia & transphobia too, of course.
- Homophobia and transphobia are almost always built on top of a deep foundation of misogyny.
- 100% accurate. Misogyny is the seed behind every hate. People don’t realize how profitable misogyny truly is.
- It’s all connected! misogyny, transphobia, and homophobia are all forms of oppression based around the idea of gender as a hierarchy that must be enforced with violence! you will fit in one of two holes! or else. And then it also intersects with racism!
