Gran parte del discurso a favor de la posesión de armas se ha centrado durante décadas en la necesidad de estar armados para resistir un gobierno tiránico. Sin embargo, ante la percepción de un avance autoritario, estos grupos han permanecido notablemente en silencio o incluso han apoyado al régimen.

2. El Escenario de Tiranía Ignorado por los Defensores de Armas.
Los eventos recientes, incluyendo el despliegue de fuerzas federales en ciudades y la violación de derechos constitucionales, son precisamente el tipo de extralimitación gubernamental que los defensores de la 2ª Enmienda afirmaban prepararse para combatir. Su inacción subraya que su motivación real no era la defensa de la libertad.

3. Redefiniendo la 2ª Enmienda y el Impacto de la Cultura de Armas.
La crisis actual ha reavivado el debate sobre la interpretación original de la 2ª Enmienda, especialmente la cláusula de la "milicia bien regulada", y ha llevado a algunos a reconsiderar la necesidad de armarse o, por el contrario, a exigir regulaciones más estrictas para mitigar la violencia armada.
