La narrativa oficial de que las embarcaciones destruidas estaban involucradas en el narcotráfico es ampliamente rechazada debido a la ausencia de evidencia pública y la sospecha de que los ocupantes eran pescadores o civiles.

Los ataques son condenados como asesinatos extrajudiciales y crímenes de guerra, ya que las víctimas fueron ejecutadas sin juicio ni pruebas, y el contrabando de drogas no es un delito capital en EE. UU.

4. Inconsistencias Logísticas y Geográficas del Tráfico.
Se señala que las pequeñas embarcaciones no tenían la capacidad de combustible para llegar a EE. UU., y que las drogas que realmente provienen de Venezuela (principalmente cocaína) suelen estar destinadas a Europa, no a los Estados Unidos (donde predomina el fentanilo de otras fuentes).
