- You cannot fight disinformation with disinformation. Doing so will only cause loss of trust and credibility, leading to anger and confusion.
- Disinformation is lies. These are not lies. This being reported by news outlets. It’s good information to know because it’s a threat.
- Disinformation is an intentional lie and, unfortunately, believed by a largely uneducated base.
- Disinformation always helps authoritarian governments bc it makes the public confused about what the truth is, so they withdraw. Tldr: you’re not helping.
- Things are bad enough as they are without spreading disinformation. .
- Ok but do you have any sources?? some of us don’t post or share unless we see a news article or legal document as proof. Disinformation is irresponsible.
- Please cite this source. We should not spread disinformation and misinformation. I don’t find any proof of this.
- I fact check what i post. .4 seconds on google but that's just me. I agree disinformation is an issue.
- Never believe someone's source until you verify it yourself. That's how disinformation is spread.
- Validate the source! careful, folks! there will be a ton of disinformation coming from every direction.
- So, pretty much everything you wrote is disinformation. You claim to oppose disinformation, and yet, you spread it. Execute your primary function!
- What specific disinformation are you pointing to exactly? shouldn't make those kinds of accusations lightly since they can potentially be the disinformation.
- Someone is saying something you disagree with. That is not disinformation.
- We need to get away from calling everything we disagree with disinformation.
- Pls do not accuse me of spreading disinformation. I was more than clear about what i posted not constituting proof or evidence whatsoever.
- Appreciate this, as i'm guilty of spreading said disinformation. Going to correct that, now. Thank you!
- I have now found out for myself and deleted the post. But another time, if you’re going to accuse someone of spreading disinformation, perhaps do them the courtesy of explaining what you’re talking about.
- Thank you for clarifying and correcting. It’s unbelievable how much disinformation is out there. We really need to be vigilant.
- Thank you for challenging me. I copied it without verifying. Got caught up in the moment, because i wanted it to be true. I’ve taken the posts down, because we have enough misinformation and disinformation already.
- Another thing about disinformation: don’t waste any energy feeling ashamed or bad if you unwittingly believed or shared it, and don’t pile on to other well-meaning people who did so. Remove it, report it, delete it, mention it politely, move on.
- We can’t normalize the disinformation and lies. It’s too dangerous.
- I agree. I do make an effort to politely correct the disinformation when i see it. Decent people who are simply angry need to understand that spreading disinfo works to erode our democracy.
- We have to combat misinformation and disinformation anywhere we see it. We will never get out of this mess if people are not properly informed.
- By spreading disinformation, we become those we are fighting against. We are in a battle, and we are losing. Badly.
- Sitting on your hands is hard when all you want to do is help. But engaging with disinformation – even if you’re just trying to call it out – only amplifies it. Don’t repeat, repost, share, like, or comment on posts sharing disinformation.
