- The government of nz is trying to take away our cultural identity, sovereignty and indigenous rights. But we aren’t just protesting for ourselves we are protesting for all indigenous peoples rights around the globe. Colonialism shouldn’t exist in 2024 but it does.
- For those who may not know aotearoa (new zealand) is currently fighting to protect the māori right to self-determination and sovereignty, the indigenous people of this land even here the sway of colonialism and fascism is ever on the rise, and we’re fighting back with every last breath.
- We never ceded sovereignty and we have never and will never give up. When you see us march and protest, understand we aren't just fighting for mãori rights but for the rights of all indigenous peoples around the world. Colonialism shouldn’t exist in 2024 but it does, and we aim to stop it.
- The impact of british colonialism, and the shameful treaty of waitangi of 1840, is still hurting now. Also.now this is a protest!
- White supremacy is alive and well in nz parliament! te pāti māori gets the harshest punishment in history—for a haka. Meanwhile, racists rewrite te tiriti with zero consequences. Colonizer tantrum politics. Is a total clown show of colonialism. Demand better of your mps, new zealand!
- When your treaty of waitangi minister believes colonialism is a good thing for māori, what do you have again?
- Unless you are maori, i don't think you need to be offering advice. Colonialism seeks to silence native culture, and the maori said, "nope".
- I’ve been compulsively watching the haka at aotearoa new zealand parliament. It makes me feel things for the same reason as irish music in belfast pubs & queer punk cabaret at squat parties. It’s anti-colonialism in action; pure hope that we can get out of this trap & reclaim the soul of humanity.
- The maori mps in new zealand who did the haka to protest the"reinterpretation" of the treaty between their people and the crown have demonstrated why settler colonialism has fought so brutally to eradicate indigenous cultures. They have real power; the haka brought 100k maori to the capitol.
- This neo-liberalist govt is nothing but new colonialism and the most diabolical treatment of us all is yet to come. Don’t think they’re only coming for māori rights e hoa mā, they’re coming for everyones. Stay vigilant!!
- New zealand's "golden visa" can absolutely be understood as neo-colonialism of the billionaire class. They are coming to extract, not to contribute. I will happily be proved wrong on this assertion. But i've read one too many history books.
- “when trump's economic colonialism meets luxon's corporate surrender” - 21 august 2025 how our prime minister's cowardly capitulation to american imperialism betrays māori and all working new zealanders"has become" says this as if colonialism didn't happen.
- Well we kiwis are getting onto that darn colonialism thing, forging our own bicultural identity. Thiel has a survivalist property by lake wānaka, but if he sticks his head above the parapet and tries to throw his weight around, he may learn that we don't take that sh¡t.
- Challenges are guaranteed in societies with legacies of colonialism (i’d say of authoritarianism too), but aotearoa's ongoing imperfect attempt to right wrongs and write a new chapter and create a new social fabric is a fairly unique process globally.
- Thank you! it’s high time we (tangata tiriti) identified before we migrated to aotearoa, we all came from unique and complex cultural identities. Whiteness is a key element of colonialism but it also removes connection to culture for the colonialists them selves. We are irish, scottish, french, etc!
