- Settler colonialism is a system of logic and structural displacement. The us is guilty of this as well with the mass killings of native americans.
- “settler-colonialism seeks to replace a native population with western-aligned immigrants through extreme ethnic-based violence. Think the united states, canada, australia and south africa. They all committed appalling crimes against their indigenous populations.”.
- Settler colonialism is a structure not an event. You benefit off of indigenous loss and oppression. These things won’t disappear with positive thinking.
- Settler colonialism is a particular type of colonialism involving sending in settlers to cultivate/control territory instead of the most common pattern of dominating people.
- No matter where it occurs in the world, settler colonialism always has two aims: take the land and disappear the natives.
- Settler colonialism is genocide. Invading a place, killing the indigenous ppl there (through murder, disease or starvation) and stealing their homes and lands is not good.
- Hey look it's the settler part of the settler colonialism. Which as always is built on genocide.
- Settler-colonialism is based on genocides. Always has been. And note the plural; it's important to remember that it's not just one. It's hundreds and hundreds of genocides, for centuries and centuries, up to and including today.
- It’s my belief that settler colonialism is inherently genocidal. We have been funding that since 1949.
- Un special rapporteur francesca albanese: "settler colonialism is intimately, quintessentially genocidal, because it will result, sooner or later, in the annihilation of the indigenous people if it succeeds. Look at the united states.".
- Colonialism isn’t history — it’s alive in daily life. Settlers and workers don’t realize they’re part of the ongoing erasure, the silent genocide, of indigenous peoples.
- Settler colonialism is in itself, by definition, ongoing, active genocide. As long as the imperatives of colonial society reign, nothing is past. The genocides continue.
- Pretending settler colonialism isn't an issue "because time has passed", as if it isn't the foundation of the very capitalism, binary gender, racism ect they fake like they are fighting against.
- The way settler colonialism is commonly misunderstood as a long-ago event rather than a system robs it of almost all of its explanatory potential.
- Settler colonialism is not an event, is a ongoing process and we are still living it!
4. Consecuencias: Despojo, Racismo y Borrado Cultural.
- Settler colonialism always returns to its roots: racism, dispossession, marginalization, genocide.
- Colonialism doesn’t stop at stealing land, labour, and wealth. It seeks to erase the minds of the colonised and strip them of: *history *language *spiritual beliefs *philosophies *stories and symbols * sense of self-worth it is literally a war against identity.
- This is classic colonialism: take the land, extract the wealth, leave the indigenous people with nothing. It mirrors what was done to native americans—forced onto barren lands, given scraps, denied prosperity.
- It is a feature of white supremacist settler colonialism going back centuries, that indigenous people who hold the land are smeared as savages & slaughtered by “civilised” settlers who take their land.
- Colonialism is evil. Taking thy neighbor's home is evil. They pretend their neighbor is less than human to justify it. Evil.
